Building web site traffic
Written by Gary HidesGetting a great looking, well constructed site is only half of the battle to move your business successfully to the web. You then need to actively build traffic to make your site a success.
There are various steps that can be taken to build site traffic. You need to evaluate and work out what is right for your business. Castus Design offers free, no obligation advice over the phone to help evaluate what is right for you. Please contact us for details.
Market your site beyond the web. Add your web address to all of your company stationery, from business cards to fascia signage and magazine adverts.

The second part is to exchange Links with other reputable sites. Search engines evaluate sites using complex algorithms. Exactly what factors are taken into consideration are never published by Search Engine companies, it is believed by everyone that Links are a factor. Arrange link exchanges between your site and those of others you have contact within business. Try to keep to similar subjects if possible. For example a site selling tents would benefit from swapping links with a camping website. A search engine will believe you have been recommended by someone else within your field.
You can pay for advertising. The motor industry is a great example. We recommend Auto Trader Digital to all of our motor industry Virtual Showroom clients. This is an extremely competitive market. Everyone is trying to earn money through advertising cars someone else is selling. However paying a little more to advertise with the most reputable motor advertising company in the UK almost guarantees the best return on your investment. My advice to anyone looking into paid advertising would be to approach with caution. Try to learn from the mistakes others in your industry have made before you and find out what is working for them now.
My last piece of advise would be to make sure your site is constructed right. Sometimes a redesign may necessary. However there are simple steps that can be taken if your budget does not allow this, check out my Keyword Checklist and other SEO articles.
